THE CAUSE
The Domestic Violence Alternatives (DVA) is a non-profit organization that currently serves four counties in Central Iowa:
Marshall, Poweshiek, Jasper, and Tama. This amazing organization offers counseling and support to the victims of domestic
violence and sexual abuse. Their support includes anonymous housing and clothing, transportation, as well as food and a support
staff, so that the people in need can get back on their feet in a safe environment.
The staff of the DVA currently consists of 4 to 8 people as well as a small ARMY of volunteers that the organization depends
on for its day to day operations. They are always looking for more volunteers and people willing to give their time to help!

The Marshalltown Skate Park
The kids of Marshalltown have been trying to get a place
together for the better part of 20 years where they could go to "stay off the streets" and away from the pressures of that
life. In the past, efforts have been made to hold fundraising events which raised a decent amount of money for the cause.
This year 20-30% of the proceeds of the Zombie Walk will go to this great cause! We are proud to
have them "on board"!

The Marshalltown mission statement is incorporated and adopted by the Marshalltown Skate Park
Fundraising Committee. It is our responsibility and duty as citizens of the community
to build our young people’s future by instilling strong community partnerships while also giving them safe places to
make great memories that last a lifetime.
"To provide a positive leadership role in the greater Marshalltown
area to promote business activity that ensures the highest quality of life for present and future generations of area residents"

The Purpose of the Zombie Walk:
Our Goal is to educate the public on the need to help those within our community who are on hard times. Be it a financial
issue that requires the need for food, household items, or the loss of a home in tough economical times, we hope to reach
out an undead hand (or CLAW) to those in need.
Our Mission
Our mission is to further promote the interests of our organization and our members to the community. We strive to make a
difference by educating the public and expanding our reach.

The skate park will only be possible with the input, support, advocacy, and awareness
of the entire community. We ask that all enthusiastic and community-minded individuals
interested in the improvement, betterment and empowerment for our youth and young people, come together and help organize
the planning of this project. Youth and young people are not only invited to
share their suggestions and ideas about the development of the skate park, but are critical to the success of this project.
Support from the entire community is vital to the funding goals in this project. Local businesses, grant sources, citizen involvement and donations, both large and
small, will determine the awareness and existence on this matter.
The skate park will be a safe and fun destination for our youth and young people; promoting
positive activities, healthy lifestyles, and to create lifelong memories in Marshalltown that passes down tradition, community
belonging, and fellowship among the growing and diverse demographic of Marshalltown.
